I have a head cannon that the maw wasn’t always like how you see it in the game. Perhaps the original intent wasn’t to kill children but to help them escape from the outside world. Over time the lady began growing older and wished for ways to stop her aging. She eventually found a way, but it came with a price. She was slowly driven to madness with her newfound power and with it she used it on all the workers of the maw so there wouldn’t be any resistance. I mean... would you willing kill a child? Anyway this was long but what I’m getting at is, this is how I think roger used to be until the lady corrupted him and the others. He’s just so quirky in game that I could never think of him as truly “evil.” XD
